Turnover Day and Length of Stay: In summer season, this home is a Friday turnover and books for a minimum of 7 days. In shoulder season turnover days are flexible and the minimum length of stay is 3 days.
Bed Configuration: East Wing Retreat has four bedrooms, two with king beds, two with queen beds, one with one single bed – able to comfortably sleep up to 8 people.
Location: Close to the spectacular Whaling Station and Tribune Bay beaches. Nearby attractions include Parks, hiking and bicycle trails, beaches, water sports, the winery, restaurants, Farmers’ Markets, art exhibits, and more.
House Description: The 1800 sq. ft. ground level private suite is in the Hornby Island Estate Winery Heritage Building called “Flanders”, located on the southeast corner of Hornby Island. This is a 2-story building. East Wing is located on the ground floor with a vacant 2nd floor. The owners live in the other wing of the home. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty and magic of this unique destination of 17 acres of forest land & orchard.
High-speed internet and moderate cell service coverage will keep you connected during your stay. The self-contained East Wing Suite has everything needed to make the most of your stay on Hornby Island:
There are 2 Heat pumps installed (air conditioning) and a flatscreen smart TV (no cablevision) with Netflix/Prime/DVD Player.
The home comes with two bathrooms, one with toilet and sink; the other with shower, toilet, and sink and a private office or study room; living room with leather sofas, and a full kitchen.
Outside there is a large picnic area with lots of comfortable lawn furniture, a Weber propane BBQ and ample parking.
There are no dangerous animals on Hornby. Seeing mosquitoes on the property is rare. This location usually receives a constant ocean breeze. The front lawn always has a shady spot. Sunrises at Clam Shell Beach Park can be spectacular.
Two resident Ravens (he & she) watch over and protect this property.
Water: – The water comes from a well and is tested monthly by Vancouver Island Health Authority. The water is potable. Water conservation is necessary as the well can go dry if it is not given time to recover after use.
Linens: In line with the water conservation efforts on the island, the guests are required to bring their own sheets, pillowcases, towels, and dishcloths. Comforters and pillows are provided.
Garbage and Recycling: As part of the Hornby Island experience you will be required to visit the Hornby Island Recycling Centre and dispose of your own garbage and recycling before the end of your stay. Refundable bottles and cans can be donated to the Hornby Island Preschool which uses the funds to support their programs.

As your drive off the ferry onto Hornby Island continue straight onto Shingle Spit Rd 2.9 km and then it turns into Central Road, continue another 5.9 km until you come to the 4 way stop at the Coop.
Turn left onto St. John’s Point Road. Continue on this road approximately 3.1 km and then turn left onto Gurney Road. Drive approximately 140 m and turn left onto Anderson Drive. The home will be .2 km along on the left-hand side of the road. The home is just past Clam Shell Drive which is just to the right . Turn onto driveway and stay to the left. The home gate will also have a Wind and Waves Sign located in a visible place near the road.
