Turnover Day and Length of Stay: In summer season, this home has a Saturday changeover and books for a minimum of 7 days. In shoulder season turnover days are flexible and the minimum length of stay is 3 days.
Bed Configuration: Main floor bedroom with queen size bed and a second floor bedroom with double bed.
Location: Nestled on the waterfront of Cape Gurney and a very short walk to the spectacular Whaling Station Beach.
House Description: Driftwood offers a rustic and calming escape that blends nature’s beauty with old Hornby charm. Wake up to the sounds of waves lapping against the shore as you sip your coffee on the east-facing porch, watching the sun rise over the Salish Sea and Texada Island. Launch your kayak or simply enjoy exploring the seaside, or laying on the grass.
Inspired by the driftwood that adorns the beachfront, this cabin exudes a warm, natural ambiance that invites you to unwind and reconnect with the serene surroundings. A few minutes walk to Whaling Station, a stunning sandy beach—perfect for swimming, searching for sand dollars or simply basking in the beautiful bay. Driftwood is ideally situated within walking distance of Hornby’s famous Helliwell Park and only a short drive from the Co-Op with restaurants and shops, making it the perfect base for both adventure and relaxation.
As the day draws to a close, retreat to the small west facing deck, and enjoy the sun setting framed by coastal forest trees of pines and firs.

Water: – The water comes from a community well system. The water is good for cooking, washing dishes, bathing etc. For drinking you will be supplied with five gallons of water. The water can be refilled from the Co-op Gas Bar or Ford’s cover dispenser (for a small charge).
Linens: In line with the water conservation efforts on the island, the guests are required to bring their own sheets, pillowcases, towels, and dishcloths. Comforters and pillows are provided.
Garbage and Recycling: As part of the Hornby Island experience you will be required to visit the Hornby Island Recycling Centre and dispose of your own garbage and recycling before the end of your stay. Refundable bottles and cans can be donated to the Hornby Island Preschool which uses the funds to support their programs.
