Location: Serene Sojourn is located close to the end of Anderson Drive area of Hornby Island and across the road from the ocean. For a family vacation home, this makes for an excellent location.
House Description: Serene Sojourn is a lovely, airy, two bedroom home with a large loft. On the main floor is an open living area with wrap around windows and two doors leading onto the deck. The full bathroom includes a toilet, sink and bathtub with handheld shower. There is also an outdoor shower in a private location at the back of the home. There is a view of the woods from inside, or the curtains can be closed for privacy.
This home does not accept children under 6 as the deck is at some points 6 to 8 feet off the ground and although it has seats surrounding it there is no high railing. Children will love the yard; there is a mixture of grass and trees to explore and run. Parents can relax and watch the children play in the yard as they can be easily viewed from the deck. The home is on a 1/2-acre corner lot and is private and quiet.
Water: The water is supplied by a well with a cistern. The water is good for cooking, washing dishes, bathing etc. For drinking you will be supplied with five gallons of water. The water container can be refilled from the Co-op Gas Bar or Ford’s Cove dispenser (for a small charge). The water can have an odor of sulfur when the Hornby Island water table is low.
Linens: In line with the water conservation efforts on the island, the guests are required to bring their own sheets, pillowcases, towels, and dishcloths. Comforters and pillows are provided.
Garbage and Recycling: As part of the Hornby Island experience you will be required to visit the Hornby Island Recycling Centre and dispose of your own garbage and recycling before the end of your stay. Refundable bottles and cans can be donated to the Hornby Island Preschool which uses the funds to support their programs.
