Pets: A pet is permitted with prior approval by Wind and Waves. A $125 pet fee per week will be required.
Occupancy: Maximum 6 guests including children.
Turnover Day and Length of Stay: In summer season, this home is a Sunday turnover and books for a minimum of 7 days. In shoulder season turnover days are flexible and the minimum length of stay is 3 days.
Bed Configuration: On the main floor of the home there is the main bedroom which has a queen size bed and has direct access to the back deck. The second bedroom is also on the main floor and has a set of single sized bunk beds (the top bunk is best for a child – maximum weight 150lbs).
The loft bedroom has a double bed which is accessed by a ladder. At the top of the loft there is a safety gate. This loft is not suitable for young children or people with mobility issues.
Location: Clonnelty Cottage is located near beautiful Galleon Beach and Grassy Point. This area is known for the most stunning sunsets on the island. It is within a 5 minute walk to Hidden Beach and approximately a 15 minute walk to the Hornby outdoor market, the community hall and the school playground. There are numerous bike paths, and beautiful areas to walk which can take you to Tribune Beach and the Ringside Market.
House Description: Clonnelty Cottage in located on a ½ acre and was originally built in the 1970’s by the owner’s parents. It is a beautiful rustic log framed cottage built with the logs off the property. In 2019, Clonnelty underwent a major renovation. The family wanted to retain the original charm of the family cottage while updating the cabin to make it more comfortable and environmentally friendly.
There is one modern bathroom with shower, a non-flushing composting toilet and sink located just outside the kitchen door just off the deck. The owners are converting the composting toilet to a regular toilet once they get their septic system in place which should be before the end of June 2026. (if all goes well).
There is a TV located in the main bedroom and a comfortable living room. There is both a front deck and a back deck for all day sunning. On the back deck is a BBQ and an outdoor table which serves as the dining table.
Water: The home has a rainwater collection system with 3 cisterns; therefore, extreme water conservation is necessary. The water is good for cooking, washing dishes, bathing etc. For drinking you will be supplied with five gallons of water. The water container can be refilled from the Co-op Gas Bar or Ford’s Cove dispenser (for a small charge).
Linens: In line with the water conservation efforts on the island, the guests are required to bring their own sheets, pillowcases, towels, and dishcloths. Comforters and pillows are provided.
Garbage and Recycling: As part of the Hornby Island experience you will be required to visit the Hornby Island Recycling Centre and dispose of your own garbage and recycling before the end of your stay. Refundable bottles and cans can be donated to the Hornby Island Preschool which uses the funds to support their programs.
