2026 Rental Rate:
- Summer Season $3100 per week plus taxes
- Shoulder Season runs from May 1st to last week of June and from last week of August to end of September. The rate is 25% off the summer rate, which is prorated for the length of stay (minimum 3 days) plus taxes. A cleaning fee of $220 will also be added for any rental which is less than seven days.
- Taxes are not included in the price above and will be added when the quote is sent to the guest for review and approval prior to booking.

Pets: This home does not permit pets.
Occupancy: Maximum 6 guests including children.
Turnover Day and Length of Stay: In summer season, this home is a Sunday turnover and books for a minimum of 7 days. In shoulder season turnover days are flexible and the minimum length of stay is 3 days.
Bed Configuration: The house has three bedrooms on a split level. One bedroom with a king bed and an attached Jack and Jill bathroom. The second bedroom also has a king bed, and the third bedroom has two sets of single bunk beds.
Location: The home is located not far from Galleon Beach/Grassy Point with waterfront access close by. The Grassy Point area is a very quiet part of Hornby Island yet centrally located. This makes it very easy to get to other parts of Hornby to enjoy the beaches, the mountain trails, the Co-op and Ringside market, the outdoor market and many of the artisan studios. Blue Door has a peek-a-boo view of the ocean and Texada Island.
House Description: This three bedroom split level home is perfect for your family vacation on Hornby Island. This updated home has a warm and inviting feel with the blue and sand palette reflecting its proximity to the ocean. There are two full bathrooms (one with a tub and one with a shower), a well equipped kitchen, and dining room and living room that is comfortable and spacious. The house has both a large front deck facing toward the ocean and a rear deck which overlooks the back yard.
Water: The water is supplied by a well which is pumped into a cistern, therefore water conservation is necessary. The water is good for cooking, washing dishes, bathing etc. For drinking you will be supplied with five gallons of water. The water container can be refilled from the Co-op Gas Bar or Ford’s Cove dispenser (for a small charge).
Linens: In line with the water conservation efforts on the island, the guests are required to bring their own sheets, pillowcases, towels, and dishcloths. Comforters and pillows are provided.
Garbage and Recycling: As part of the Hornby Island experience you will be required to visit the Hornby Island Recycling Centre and dispose of your own garbage and recycling before the end of your stay. Refundable bottles and cans can be donated to the Hornby Island Preschool which uses the funds to support their programs.

Blue Door
I’m pretty sure this is our 6th summer of Blue Door heaven on earth.Blue Door is just the most perfect place. We again had an amazing experience. Mother Nature was incredibly kind to us and gave us the most perfect weather. Of course the accommodations were amazing. The place was spotless on our arrival and we always appreciate Ray stopping by when we arrive to welcome us and give us any updates on the Island and before we leave to check on us.
Another Great Stay
We had another wonderful stay at Blue Door. The house is perfect for a young child with its enclosed patio so we can have lots of outside time without worrying about them wandering off. It’s so nice to have grassy point just a short walk away and like anything on the island nothing is that far away! The kitchen is well set up and beds are spacious and super comfy. We look forward to our next stay at Blue Door!
Another perfect Hornby vacation!
This is our 5th year at Blue Door and we love it more each year! The vacation home feels like our home away from home each summer we are fortunate to stay. As always, Ray and Angela of Wind and Waves make the entire process so streamlined and easy. We are again so grateful to the owners for sharing their piece of heaven on earth with others during the summer months. Can't wait for next year!

Wonderful Home
We had a lovely stay at Blue Door! The home is very nicely decorated and spacious, and the kitchen is well equipped with lots of plates, utensils, cooking implements etc. The deck is wonderful for star gazing at night and enjoying the sun in the day! It is walking distance to Grassy Point. It’s important to note that guests must bring their own water to drink. It was a lovely vacation and we would absolutely stay here again. The only thing making me rate it 4 instead of 5 stars is having to bring all your own linens and water, and remove all garbage/recycling yourself despite paying a cleaning fee.
A perfect stay
We traveled to Hornby and stayed at Blue Door with our 4 month old son and with friends and their 14 month old. Blue Door was absolutely perfect for all of us to have the space we needed. The patio is so big and beautiful, and it being able to be completely enclosed was so helpful for the kids. The beds are comfortable, the location just down the road from Grassy Point is so lovely, I just can't say enough about how much we enjoyed ourselves at Blue Door and on Hornby Island. We could see ourselves coming back here year after year. Ray stopping by to greet us when we arrived was also so kind and helpful. As we were booking I called him to ask what property would suit our families and he was bang on about Blue Door fitting our needs exactly. Thank you so much!

Blue Door is amazing
This is our 4th year renting numerous weeks in July at Blue Door. This place is heaven on earth. Myself and my 30 and 32 year old daughter and son say they look forward to our vacation here for the whole year. Ray and Angela are wonderful as the owners of Wind and Waves. This place is incredible - so spacious and decorated beautifully, big gorgeous deck. Very accommodating for families and close to the water. A quick walk to Grassy Point to watch the sunset. Highly recommend staying here.
The BEST vacation rental
Blue Door is our happy place. Three years we've been here now. The home is clean, bright, beautifully decorated and allows for numerous people. A family with many children will do very well here. Very comfortable beds was an added bonus. The location is amazing....just down the road from Grassy Point....the BEST place to view the incredible Hornby sunsets. We appreciated Ray from Wind and Waves coming to greet us on our arrival day. This is an incredible vacation home.
