Had a great time at Pips place. Loved the rustic aspect of the cottage and the gorgeous deck. It felt reminiscent of Greece. We also enjoyed the proximity to the Fords Cove trail and to the spit. Would love to return next summer.
We enjoyed our time at Pip’s place while on Hornby Island. The cabin was comfortable for our family and had enough space for everyone. We spent a lot of time on the deck, which was the highlight with its tree canopy and natural setting. Perfect for anyone looking for that authentic cottage experience with basic amenities.
Those familiar with Hornby Island might recall the local radio station's motto, "not everyone gets it." This expression might also be applied to Pip's Place, which, on the surface appears to be an inconspicuous 1970s cabin tucked into a quiet, wooded lane. But for those of us who seek out special places that are alive with personality and warmth, Pip's Place is a true haven. Its specters are friendly and colourful: they expect you to delight (respectfully) in the space. The deck -- dappled by a Bigleaf Maple -- is adorned with fragrant David Austin roses and cheerful Hollyhocks. Mule deer sleep undisturbed in the backyard, while birds (Towhees, Robins, Varied Thrushes, Chesnut-Backed Chickadees, to name a scant few) are protected from the cabin's many windows by elegantly arranged bamboo. Inside, the bookshelves are lined with texts on art and poetry (and even the occasional John Wyndham). The richly-hued textiles and rounded white walls feel positively Mediterranean, and the loft was built for afternoon daydreaming. There are no clocks in Pip's Place: time is irrelevant. This is a thoughtful place for thoughtful people. If you are looking for an upscale hotel, or a luxurious airbnb, this is not your cabin. You wouldn't get it. But if you are a naturalist or a creative (perhaps seeking refuge from an increasingly hostile world?) Pip's Place is surely your refuge.
