COVID-19 notification to Hornby Island Visitor

Covid-19 and effect on Hornby Island video re

If you were thinking of visiting Hornby, please postpone your trip for at least the next several weeks, unless the trip is absolutely necessary. Keep up on Covid-19 situation and ask if you know someone on Hornby if safe to come yet.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, local officials are asking everyone to adhere to the BC Health Office and the Canadian Government's March 19th advice to self-isolate and to avoid all non-essential travel and movement. It appears likely that health officials will soon strengthen that from a recommendation to an order, and we don't want our visitors stranded on Hornby for the duration.

Our number one priority is the health and safety of our community members, our families, and our guests. We are committed to facing the pandemic with kindness, inclusivity, and support for one another. The decision to discourage visitors has been a difficult one. Right now, though, the priority is to flatten the curve.
We are closely monitoring the situation and in the coming weeks we will consider new measures and guidelines. At the earliest, safest time, we will once again welcome visitors to the Island.
